Diecast Collectibles: More Than Just Models
Some collections start small. Others grow into something much bigger.
For us, diecast collectibles have always meant more than just the pieces themselves.
My father started his collection years ago. What began as an interest turned into something he truly loved. Over time, it grew into four large display cases filled with diecast construction trucks—brands like CAT, NZG, Conrad, and more.

Each one had its place. Each one meant something.
But it didn’t stop there.
What he loved just as much as collecting was the experience around it. Buying, selling, and connecting with others who shared that same interest. He started selling on eBay, and every year, there was one event we all looked forward to—the Greenberg’s Great Train & Toy Show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.
That was part of the routine.
Friday night was setup. My sister and I were always the pack mules, helping load everything in and get it ready.
Then came Saturday.
Early morning—O’dark hundred—we’d head out, usually stopping for breakfast before getting to the show. From there, it was a full day. Meeting people, talking about collectibles, sharing stories, and being surrounded by something he truly enjoyed.
We stayed until the end, 5PM.
Then it was time to pack everything up and bring it all back home.
It was a long day. A lot of work. But it never felt like it.
Looking back, it wasn’t really about the trucks.
It was about the time together. The routine. The shared experience.
That’s what makes collections like this different.
They’re not just items sitting on a shelf. They carry memories with them. Moments that stick long after the collection itself changes or grows.
That same mindset is part of what we carry into Awesome Items 4 U today.
Whether it’s diecast models, toys, or collectibles, it’s never just about the item. It’s about what’s behind it.
And for us, diecast will always be part of that story.
